So What is an appointed Person?

If you decide you don’t need a first-aider in your workplace, you should appoint someone to take charge of first-aid arrangements. The role of this appointed person includes looking after first-aid equipment and facilities and calling the emergency services when required. They can also provide emergency cover where a first-aider is absent due to unforeseen circumstances (annual leave does not count). Appointed persons do not need first-aid training, though emergency first-aid courses are available.
Even if you decide first-aiders are unnecessary, there is still the possibility of an accident or illness, so you may wish to consider providing qualified first-aiders.

1 Day Emergency First Aid at work Manchester (EFAW)

We deliver one day first aid courses for Small to Medium sized Business's conducting First Aid Training to groups of staff you have nominated. This course is approved by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and course times are normally from 9.30am to 4.30pm (lasting 6 hours).

Where an employer's assessment of First Aid needs identifies that a First Aider is not necessary, the minimum requirement for an employer is to appoint a person to take charge of
the First Aid arrangements. This includes looking after the equipment and facilities and calling
the Emergency Services when required. Arrangements should be made for an Appointed Person to be available to undertake these duties at all times when people are at work.

In the absence of the First Aider, employers must appoint a person for this purpose.

It should be remembered that Appointed Persons are not First Aiders and should not attempt to give First Aid for which they have not been trained.

The certificate is valid for 3 years upon successful completion of the course. Each delegate receives a first aid book and a certificate.

3 Day First aid at Work Manchester (FAW)

The Three day First Aid at Work qualification is approved by the HSE and is over 18 hours of training. Delegates will be assessed throughout the course and will be externally assessed at the end. This comprehensive three day course covers a wide range of First Aid emergencies, enabling all participants to deal with an emergency situation with confidence in a prompt, safe and effective way.

The course will give the participants a qualification to the highest level of First Aid, meeting the
statutory requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

Successful delegates will be presented with a qualification lasting 3 years, a first aid manual and a HSE approved certificate upon successful completion of the course.

2 Day First Aid at Work Refresher Course - HSE Approved (FAWR)

This is a two day first aid at work re-qualifying course as required by the First Aid Regulations. It is a requirement of the Health & Safety law that employers provide a safe and healthy environment to work in. If your assessment of First Aid needs highlights the need to maintain the qualification of your First Aiders, then this course will provide you with that. This comprehensive 2-day course covers a wide range of First Aid emergencies, enabling all participants to deal with an emergency situation with confidence in a prompt, safe and effective way. In addition to this, should there have been any change to protocols during their initial qualification, then this will be updated.

This course is for people holding a current First aid at work certificate.The course is suitable for all businesses, particularly those with large numbers of personnel which work in any environment from low to high risk, ensuring shift work/out of hours have provisions at all times. Please note if a business has more than one location each site must be assessed per category of risk and per number of personnel.

Paediatric First Aid Courses Manchester

This course is in line with the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and meets the needs of Ofsted. It is suitable for Childminders, Nursery and School staff (dealing with Foundation Stage) and anybody who deals with children and wants a more in-depth course.

This two day (12 hour) course is delivered at your venue, by a paediatric specialist and includes both theory and practical sessions. There are two types of paediatric courses that we can deliver. The 2 day Paediatric First Aid Training course (12 hours)  is a requirement of all Childcare Practitioners who require registration by OFSTED, this includes Childminders, Nannies, Nursery Practitioners, Pre School and After School Club Staff.

There is also a 1 day Paediatric First Aid course which covers the same material as the two day paediatric course but is not approved by OFSTED.
